My boyfriend's parents are having serious relationship problems, and Quentin still lives with them for economic reasons. Upon speaking to him earlier this afternoon, I learned that his folks have been fighting pretty much constantly. I foresee very rough times ahead if these two do not get out of their alcohol-induced frames of mind, let alone their already very strong, childish egos.

Quentin has a job outside the home, but he works 1st shift way early in the morning, so he gets home before his dad does and therefore has to hear all the anger and feel the negative energy throughout that house once his dad gets home, till the time his dad goes to bed. Unfortunately, the negativity is fed also by Q's mom, whose temper is bad enough when sober, but when drunk, it gets worse. She also has some deep-seated insecurity issues on many levels resulting from various things that happened during her formative years, which only adds fear-laced fuel to the fire.

They have been attempting marriage counseling, but they've obviously rejected everything the therapist could possibly say to these two, because the problem's worse instead of better.

I realize that in healthy relationships there is conflict, but this, as I have seen it, is not in the least healthy.

I am not so much worried for them as I am for Quentin. While he has wisely chosen not to try to step in and play referee, he still has to listen to and feel the negative vibes from his parents, even though he can go into his room and shut the door, because the walls of the house are rather thin.

And I sit here 24 miles away thinking, "there, but for the grace of the Divine Mother-Father-Force, go Q and I."

I sit here aching and feeling somewhat sick knowing Q has to put up with the negativity and drama...I know it all too well having had a grandmother who, while not an alcoholic, was still very egotistical, controlling and cruel.

So I would love it if you would send the entire household--both humans AND actual house some very strong positive energy/prayers...

Thank you,
Rev. Kathryn WingedLioness

Dear Kat,

I have prayed for Quintin, you, and his family.
Just remember, though you may feel helpless as you are forced to watch what he goes through, you are still there for him, and he will know it. It will mean more to him than you can know, and together, you will see each other through this. As bad as it is, God is with all of you and loves you, and He will not abandon any of you.

May God bless you with His presence, mercy, and peace.

Thanks, Rev. Campbell. biggrin.gif As I did with our sister To'na, I thank you from the bottom of my heart...I know that Divine Spirit does not abandon us...in fact She calls us to listen to Her. It is we who "abandon" Spirit's calls for us to wake up.

The sad truth of it is, though, Quentin's parents are not exactly "believers." Tim is an agnostic at best, with hope for potential divine presence, while Pam has no real belief or hope at all in anything. It is no wonder they treat each other so awfully and are in their individual hellish worlds.

Quentin himself is something of a Deist, which is as close as Q says he will come to claiming any sort of belief in a Divine Presence, though he takes atheistic constructs and plays about with them for a while just to have some fun with perspectives. But because he *does* believe in peace and love--even in the most general, non-denominational sense--what his parents do to each other is unfathomable for him, as it is for me.

Keep the prayers comin' sisters and brothers...they're much needed.

Brightest Blessings,
Kat ^.^
