- WHAT IS A MAN -

An esoteric study

PART 1

In these days and times that we are living, one of the most perplexing questions baffling the minds of many people is, “Actually, what is a Man?” Is a man simply the male species of the human family who possesses the genital organs necessary to pass on and plant the seed for the conception of children? Is a man one that is to dominate the creation or be “Lord of the Jungle,” as some may put it? Or is man as we see him today truly made in the image of God as the Bible says? There is no doubt that these few and many more questions are very perplexing and are in great need of being answered truthfully in order that we might be clear of those who are the male species of the human family are really men.

To answer this question truthfully requires us to go back to the beginning and the origin of man’s creation. There have been many a historian, archeologists, anthropologists, biologists and scientists in general that have theorized the origin of man’s creation. Charles Darwin stated that man evolved from an ape and many other “renowned” men of intelligence either supported this theory or had parallel concepts that compared to his. However, if we are seeking the truth of the subject then our research will lead us unto God, the Creator of man, and the most authentic documentation of man’s origin will be found in the Bible. In addition, our research will lead us to the fact that the first writings of the Bible were in the ancient language of Hebrew. Therefore, this definition or understanding of : “What is a Man,” will be given from the Hebrew thought.

In accordance with biblical documentation man was created on the sixth day after God had made the heavens, the earth, the sea, and all that was within them; then God created man - Gen. 1-26. In this creative process of man, God commanded the heavens, the earth, the sea and all that was within them to “come and let us make man in our image, after our likeness.” This is a very significant point to understand concerning man’s relationship with God and the creation Therefore, it is imperative that we have a clear understanding of man’s relationship with God, the source of his creation.

According to scriptural documentation man was first spiritually created, for initially he was a thought in God’s mind. Now we must have a clearer understanding of what is God.

Can God be defined in a manner that is simple enough for each of us to understand how to relate to It. The answer is yes, and we will begin our definition by referring to John 1:1-2, which reads:

“In the beginning was the word, and the Word was with God, and the word was God.”

From this verses we see that God in Its highest state is Divine thought (energy), an infinite unseen force of intelligence that has unlimited creative powers, the God-mind. This Divine Omnipotent force of intelligence formulated itself into the Word or the expression (attributes) of Its thoughts that were one with Its total being. It was by this Word that all things were made.

In getting a clearer understanding of Word, we must know that the Word is Divine thought set in motion / expressed that activates or causes something to happen. In Hebrew, Word is “Di-vahr” or “Mee-laa”. The first translation “Di-vahr”, the more significant, in that it actually means word or thing, which can be freely translated as a word of substance, an active energy that creates or causes something to be.

In addition to this let us understand God in the Hebrew thought. God is translated as “Eh-lo-heem”. This word is a plural noun in form but singular in meaning and clearly reveals that God is a make-up of several attributes (spiritual characteristics) that formulate Its total being. Thus, in the creative process of man this Divine Omnipotent force, energy, thought (God), drew from within Itself Its innermost attributes (spiritual characteristics) that would be the spiritual life-giving substance used in the creation of being in Its image and after Its likeness. The attribute must balance the other. By properly balancing and activating all the Holy attributes of God, man becomes the perfect reflection of God’s image (mind).

OBEDIENCE AS A CHILD / HUMILITY - In order to possess the Holy attribute of obedience unto God his creator man must continually remain humble unto God’s instructions (Laws), willing to hear and do what he is instructed (commanded) in order to remain in harmony with God and the creation.

LOVE / CRAFTS - by possessing a love for God, man would manifest the love of God in all of his outward expressions (works) thus manifesting a superior life in creation.

SERVITUDE / BLESSINGS - Through continual and diligent divine service unto his creator and the creation man was to be a blessing unto the nations of the earth, thus creating paradise for the greatest in the kingdom is the servant.

JUDGMENT / JUSTICE / MERCY - Man must judge all matters with a spirit of Godly mercy in righteousness and truth. Thus being just in all decisions causing righteousness to dominate the creation.

ZEAL / PATIENCE - With the proper balance of these two attributes man fulfills a covenant of perfection, which is to say, man must be zealous, diligent, valiant in fulfilling the will of God yet he must do so with patience and understanding.

WAR / COUNSEL - In order to manifest God’s presence / authority in the creation, man must be at war with anything, any doctrine, any presence that is adverse to the will of God, but he must do so with Divine Counsel, for there is wisdom in much counsel. Thus showing unto the creation that the living God rules.

With the proper implementation of all twelve of these attributes man would achieve peace with God, thus becoming the inheritance of perfection, in the perfect image and after the exact likeness of his Creator.
