As some of you knew, I was scheduled to perform a wedding for an atheist and an agnostic yesterday. The home of this young couple was located in the mountains surrounded by forest and wildflowers, about 75 miles from where I live. The men were dressed in black tuxedoes with red satin vests. The women were dressed in wonderful apricot colored gowns and the flowers were gold and amber and red, the colors of autumn. The most precious part was the 2 1/2 year old flower girl, dressed in a white satinette gown and a halo veil of flowers, who daintily sprinkled rose petals down the bridal path and then continued to sprinkle the guests with the remainder of her basket. The bride wore a stunning off-white strapless gown with a wonderful train, all embedded with pearls. There were about 150 people in attendance and the entire event was held at the home of this couple and catered by Garcias restaurant out of Albuquerque.
After the ceremony I was invited to stay and eat as a guest and had the opportunity to meet numerous others who approached me about the words of the ceremony. I was asked to perform a renewal of vows for a couple who have been married 35 years, and the wedding planner who put together this event requested my cards to pass on to others who were preparing to wed.
Another thing I found to be inspiring was that between the parents of the bride and groom they had been married over 75 years, a testimony that there is a good chance that this young couple will probably beat the statistics of American marriages that fail. There was no mention of spirituality o God until I was saying goodbye when I inadvertently told them both, 'May God bless you.' Oops! unsure.gif
But all in all the event was beautiful, went off without a hitch, everyone thought the words were beautiful and original, I got an extra $40 from the groom and a number of possible future events. I think it was a success.

When I return from my trip and get the photos developed, I will attempt to download them for your viewing.....God's Peace....To`na Wanagi
