Full Version: Illusion of Skin: Perhaps we truly are "Children of the Same Universe"

Hello everyone,

I figured that you fellow Ministers would enjoy this video. It is by a woman named Nina Jablonski and is a speech that she did for TED on the evolution of human skin.

Given that we are all God's children, perhaps God truly isn't bigoted or racist, perhaps we are blind to the very truths that present themselves to us every day.

In 1504, just 12 years after Columbus landed here, a Jesuit priest who had just arrived in America wrote back to his constituents that to his amazement, the people of this continent could easily be mistaken for Europeans both in stature and skin color. However, most people to this day, hold to the "cowboys and Indians stereotypes" and believe all Native Americans are dark-skinned, with black hair, and with very little body or facial hair. While this is true of many tribes on our continent, it is not true of us all. I am a descendant of those people the Jesuit priest encountered in the Northeast, the Haudenosaunee. And even though I am of this genetic material, there are those, not of Native descent, who will argue this is not true and adamantly hold to their prejudices no matter what proof is before them.

The same is true of the Truth God has revealed to us all. He has given us a consciousness of conscience, not only making us aware of our differences, but also giving us the internal knowledge that we are all from the same genetic material, brothers and sisters, all. But we prefer to live in denial (not a river in Egypt rolleyes.gif ) in hopes that, "OMG! I just can't share the same genes as one of those people!" God forbid that we should have to share our crust of bread with one less fortunate who has a different hue than ourselves...or has a different religion....or a different philosophy....or country....and on and on it goes. I thank God I do not share this foolishness of discrimination based on egomania. Who cares if someone is different color? They are all beautiful and all children of God. Would a rainbow be as lovely if it were only one color?....God's Love and Peace....To`na Wanagi

The first suspected migration of the first (now) indigenous peoples in the Americas (AKA original Ancestors of the Native people) is currently believed to have been from what is now the European continent (more specifically what is now France). This would explain the fair skinned natives. The Asian migration to the west was not until some time later but does help to explain the physiology of those more to the west. In the middle high heat and the mixing of "races" explains the stereotypes given by the story book "Cowboys and Indians". Oddly even the Cowboys began to look very dark in the middle of the summer.

There is another theory that says we all came from the middle east at some point but that theory then suggests that the only truly indigenous persons on the planet are the Aborigines, and that we should make an effort to develop space travel and get everyone off this ticking time-bomb our ancestors (a ship full of telephone sanitizers and used car salesmen) crashed on and stranded us here. OK so I mixed 2 mythos there and made it a little more funny but anyway what are we doing sitting around arguing on this planet when we can take over the others and run around at warped speeds and create havoc universally?...
