Ok before I begin, I just want to make it clear that this was originally written for Theistic Satanists who are finding it hard to find their own identity in their religion. Much of the article could very well work for other religions too as it is basiclly about finding your own voice and not allowing others to make up you opinion for you. If however you do think you will find the article offensive ( for what ever reason) then please just don't read it. Thanks for reading.

Who are you?

If you were to type in the term “Theistic Satanist” into an internet search engine; you would find many different versions of this belief. The theistic Satanist religion has many denominations and is just as susceptible to schism within those denominations as any other religion. This can make it hard for a neophyte Satanist to understand what their religion entails and to what makes up the belief system. A good place to start is to look to your own idea of who Satan is and your own idea of what Satanism is about. That might seem easy until you try it. Most of the time we will find that our view of Satan has been coloured by the perception of others be they negative or otherwise. After you have done that why not take a look at some of the other denominations out there, look at their beliefs and ask your self do they sound plausible? Are they realistic in their outlook? Do they promote religious intolerance? Is that something that bothers you if they did? The biggest gift a Satanist can give themselves is the gift of an open mind with this we can read any information from a non judgmental stand point. Of course being non judgemental does not mean we have to agree with everything that we read, we can be critical without being nasty about it. We are all entitled to our own view of who Satan is, and we are all entitled to change our minds occasionally. To me how I view Satan now, five years into my religion, is not the deity I started out thinking he was. Re-evaluating your beliefs is a great thing as it keeps them fresh, lets you keep what you still believe and get rid off the one’s you no longer need.

Remember that Satanism is a religion of the individual therefore you have the permission to have your own opinions. This is something that can be forgotten amongst many Satanists, many of whom have the idea that their opinion is right and everyone else is wrong. They of course have ever right to say that but that does not mean that we can’t find it irritating and annoying. We must not forget that Satan should be the centre of our belief. And no matter what anyone says, about their own personal ideas about our God, It’s what YOU think that matters. What the Satanism scene does not need any more of is cookie cutter Satanists. This is YOUR path. You decide how you walk down it.

May Satan’s love enshroud us all

rolleyes.gif I’m glad to see you have written a thread on your belief. Some Christians might find that confusing but than again I’m not a Christian. Many Christians and other religions have the same struggles as yours being each have there own idea on what there religion means. Christians of different denominations often fight among themselves some accusing others denominations of not being Christian because there belief differs. I know because I use to be a Christian.

My paths lead to being spiritual but not religious. To me God and Satan are the same thing. To me God is greater than religion allows God to be. God is both everything and nothing. I don’t know much about Satanism I have heard some believe in satan some don’t believe in Satan or God but believe in what Satan stands for. I have heard Satan described as chaos in which is a very important part of change or the natural flow of energy without chaos energy gets stagnated. I don’t believe Satan is God’s enemy because like I said God and Satan are the same thing.

What I am curious about is, what do you believe Satan is and what do you believe Satan stands for. What does Satan and Satanism mean to you?

Sincerely Reverend Penny.

I like what you said about "God is greater than religion allows God to be" I feel that is very true.

I belive Satan is a God who existed before religion therfore before christianity, Islam etc. I belive him to be just one of a great many God's all of whom are joined in some way to the creator. I guess my belives are touch panethist and poltheist in origin. But I also belive that it is not imprtant where Satan came from ( As I do think we will ever know for sure) but it is important how we see him today in the hear and now.

Satan to me is not some big, scary evil deity intent on corrupting the world. I personally have felt nothing but love and compassion from him. He is a deity that loves his followers without wishing to change them. By change I don't mean he will let you stick with addictive behaviour etc I mean that you can be who you ARE such as homosexual, Transgender etc. To many religions alienate people by imposing their own belives about how people should live their life. Satan see's through sexuality, see's through gender. I like you don't belive that Satan is God's enemy ( the Christian God) but I do belive that certain christian belifes ( and those of many religons) and of those that impose them are the true enemy. Because they stunt the growth of humanity. Satan see's what humans are capbile of and when that is halted, even for a short time. we lose a little of oursleves.

Anyway that's a little of what I belive smile.gif Thank you for asking

That’s cool sounds nice. Better than God being a White Man in Heaven ready to send us to a Fiery heck if we break his commandments as the Red Horned Satan who was suppose to one time be the most Beautiful angle sits there with a pitchfork ready to cook our souls in his Fairy Brew. (Yet he loves us) Both being a male leaves no room for woman. LoL…
