Rev. Morrison
Hello Everyone,

I haven't logged in for awhile, but I thought it would be interesting to see what YOU recommend in terms of organizing a wedding ceremony on the cheap, great or uncommon music to play at a wedding and the best places to have a wedding ceremony!

Here are some of my favorites over the years....

________________________________________

Music by Female Artists

1) Whitney Houston - I Believe in You and Me
2) Enya - Only Time
3) Bette Midler - The Rose
4) Shania Twain - Forever and For Always
5) Ann Murray - Could I Have this Dance

Music by Male Artists

1) Louis Armstrong - What a Wonderful World
2) Lionel Ritchie - Endless Love
3) Ewan McGregor - Come What May
4) John Berry - You Love Amazes Me
5) Frank Sinatra - Love and Marriage : )

Cheap Wedding Ideas

1) Having an interfaith ULC minister officiate!
2) Beach (Classic)
3) Friend or Family in the Military? - Begin having them purchase alcohol on base. (Taxed Less! @_@)
4) Fruit Bowls, I've seen many people use these as centerpieces for tables. Fruit is very inexpensive.
5) Not everyone deserves a piece of the cake, display cupcakes on tiers...looks great and cheap!

Best Places on a Budget

1) Local Wine Vineyard, sometimes this is also a way to save money on wedding wines!
2) Rent a private room at your family's favorite restaurant.
3) Vegas!
4) College/University Chapels and Auditoriums
5) Local Park
BR. Joseph
1) Friends' or family members churches/temples/religious halls. Often these can be had for a smaller donation than one would expect.

My wedding place was free of charge.

If poor you can always talk to the priest at any other brick and motor church and see what can be done to reduce costs to convenient amounts.

2) (Again) Parks. City and state parks are a regular favorite for outdoor weddings. The cost will vary but some cities can use the good publicity for their park systems to get more funding and volunteers. Talk to the city or state office running the park in question.

3) Museums. OK it may have some restrictions here but due to security but these guys are in need of tourist money and the chance to promote their museum and weddings are a popular promotion.

4) Wal-Mart. If you don't think its tacky there are some serious benefits about hiring out space for your wedding at a large box store.

5) Back yards are popular for smaller weddings.

Dear Rev. Morrison,

I like a great number of your favorites too. The following are a few more of mine!

Music by female artists:

Etta James*** At Last.
Nana Mouskori**** Ave Maria.
Roberta Flack*** The first time ever I saw your face.

Music by male artists:

Extreme*** More than words.
Lonestar*** Amazed.
Righteous Brothers*** Unchained melody.
Roch Voisine*** I’ll always be there.

Cheap wedding ideas:

Have a talented friend make your cake.
If having it in a church, ask if there are left over decorations you may use.
Use silk flowers. They are easy to make bouquets with, and you can decorate your home with them afterwards.

Best places on a budget:

Backyards or family homes can be decorated to a point of absolute beauty.
Ask for permission at your local botanical garden.
Charter a yacht, that way you can limit your guests, hold the ceremony and reception without the need to travel. Not to mention a beautiful backdrop for pictures. smile.gif

God's blessings,

Rev. Campbell.

as a biker i have done some very inexpensive weddings. in parks, camp sites, 1/2 way over a river on an unfinished bridge, backyards, and even in a few bars. ive always wanted to do one rollin down the road. wild flowers for the bride.
although beware of the bar wedding. we once ended up staying for 3 days, 300 steaks, 200 chickens, and a $3000.00 bar tab!

Wierdest song I ever heard at a wedding?
A Little Respect by Erasure.
Jeff A
Another thought on music is not so much the song but the delivery. Often a close friend or family member is a musician. As long as it is someone who people generally regard as pleasant to listen to, then an invite to provide the music is always welcome. Formalized things like " The Wedding March" can be taped, with the other music live and tailored to the couple. Often, more meaning and value will be placed on music from someone known, than a hit-maker.

On places, most areas have someone who has made an effort to build a personal gazebo/pavilion type park area on their personal property. Respectful requests for using for weddings are often met with very enthusiastic responses. That person expended effect to build their area and are glad to show it off.

Dear Rev. Kyle Cusick,

While you’re musical selections did not reflect the sacred spiritual atmosphere more traditionalists listen for, I must say without doubt, you were most successful in capturing the joyous celebration such a union demands.
You make an excellent point; music selections should reflect the couple to be married, and have nothing to do with expectations. It is meant to be a once in a lifetime event, and should be as meaningful and memorable as possible.
A belated congratulation on your wedding, and as well, staying true to yourselves. I wish you many wonderful years! smile.gif

God’s blessings,

Rev. Campbell.
