Hi everyone. I’m new to this and wanted to get some information before I start calling the government on this. I live in Missouri and did my online ordainship with a Missouri address. My friends want me to marry them in Kansas. Can anyone help me with what I need to do? Can I do a wedding in another state? I know I would have to follow Kansas law. Do I need a license for myself or just their wedding license? What paper work do I need and do I just send that in with their license? Thanks any suggestion would be great.

Hi Chris!

Now that you're ordained, go ahead and talk to your local government entity that issues marriage licenses (usually the county or city clerk's office). Let them know that you are a minister, and just ask what them what you need to do before performing a marriage. Most states require ministers to complete a formal registration process.

Well, one of my main questions was the part about living in Missouri and doing a wedding in Kansas. I didn't know if that would be a problem or not?

How about calling or emailing the Clerk's office in Kansas and asking them?
