These are the lyrics to a song I wrote; copyright: ME! It's not as good without the music...
(Refrain)
There are too few people with too much money in the world today;
Too many of us don't have the anty for the games they play;
We can't pass go, collect, or win;
Some call it "fate", but I call it: SIN!
There are too few people with too much money in the world today...
Who says that money doesn't grow on trees?
Why, billionaires grow it just as quick as you please!
There's not enough to satisfy them;
Greed is the goal, we provide the mayhem!
Just keep the money flowing on up...
They can't see their overflowing cup...
Instead of letting cash splash back on us,
They'd want to market and sell us MONEY umbrellas! (Refrain)
Dear Mr. Gates, I'm making a plea;
It isn't selfish, isn't even for me;
Just fifty million per major city
Would house and feed all of it's needy!
Dear Mr. Buffett, I'd ask you the same;
Just think how people would remember your names!
They'd say: "In pity and mercy they came..."
And you could, then, meet your makers without all that shame! (Refrain)
The super rich world's always pristine;
While the poor man's world just never gets clean;
Because they spend their time in that world in-between,
Working for people who never get seen...
Out on the course, or up at the club,
The world is a dream; it's a nice social hub...
They joke and laugh about the people they snub;
Let's all stand up and say: "Listen here, bub..." (Refrain)
The middle class; now, they have it made!
They have enough to raise children, enough to "persuade;"
Working all day, at least they get paid
Enough to vacation, to buy stock, and trade!
The kids get a car, college isn't just a dream;
The world's not as harsh as, to some, it might seem;
But they're still in the pocket of someone "up team;"
Passing money on up that could've been cream... (Refrain)
Don't get me wrong, I'm not casting blame...
Sitting on such fortunes seems a terrible shame...
I don't begrudge a million or two;
But having BILLIONS, friend, should OBLIGATE YOU;
To better people, to answer their dreams...
To make the homeless healthy and clean...
Don't "pass the buck," don't "turn a blind eye..."
There are so many in need, and you'd better ask: "Why?"
Because: (Refrain)

Too many of us don't have the anty for the games they play;
That line bugs me. I understand what you are saying within the context of the song, but it just does.

Dear Rev. Mike,
In truth, I kinda like the line "Too many of us don't have the anty for the games they play;". I know I'm one as I could not afford a regular ante let alone the kind the big boys play for. But I also agree with Number Seven for the middle class comment though. While I could never be confused with the middle class, I'm pretty sure they don't have it that well either.
All in all, I thought it was rather good. I'm not sure what kind of music you had in mind for the lyrics, but the flow does go well with a hip-hop rhythm.
God's blessings,
Rev. Campbell.

Very hip-hoppy...with a LOT of AWESOME '80's style guitar rips... It's written in c minor with a heavy bass line; bottom line on the lyrics in the harmony is: Bow...bow...bow...ba oh-a oh-a bow...bow...bow (as in "take a bow.") It reminds me some of INXS, Whitesnake, BonJovi, and EMINEM all rolled up in one ... and, of course, I drop the gerunds when I sing it... "Dear Mr. Gates, I'm makin' a plea..." I also use "ain't" in place of some "isn't's!"
The true "Middle Class" in this country has changed, folks; they are the presidents and vice presidents of companies now... You have to be "super rich" to count as "upper class!" The lower class is just subdivided into MANY categories: "middle class," "lower middle class," "upper lower class," "lower class," and "impoverished!" So sad and wrong...

Dear Rev. Mike,
It's funny you mention Eminem as that is exactly the style that came to mind when I read your lyrics!
As far as the distinction between the classes, alas, I am in no position to argue. Ask me about the working poor, the poor, and the indigent, and then I might be able to offer a more enlightened contribution. lol
Perhaps you can download your song so we can hear it when your finished, as it sounds as though it might be pretty good!
God's blessings,
Rev. Campbell.
