ABBA! Dear Father! Protect the crowds of well-wishers in our nation's capitol today; assist the U.S. Secret Service and all law enforcement officials engaged in providing security for the Inaugural; may their vigilance be rewarded with success. Keep all who have braved the weather and the throngs of witnesses to this historic event safe from every harm; keep the airspace above Washington safe from attack; keep medical personnel close at hand for those who may suffer from medical emergencies; keep our nation's treasured landmarks safe from damage; above all, dear Lord, keep our new President and his family safe from racist and extremist persons who may seek to do them harm. May this day be blessed, may it be uneventful of terror, very eventful of joy and elation, and may all have only one reason to remember this day: for a nation that celebrates the fulfillment of the racial Civil Rights Movement. God, our protector, we ask of You Your blessing and Your aid; please hear our prayers and answer them with a day full of happiness and elation. We pray in the name that is above all other names, the name at which every knee must bend, the name of Your Son Incarnate: Jesus Christ, our Lord! Amen!

Our Father, Almighty God, we thank You for harkening to and hearing our prayers for the safety of this day. Do not now shrink in Your watchfulness over our new President; keep him always safe, we beg You; never let harm approach him or his family. Open a new era of peace and prosperity for our beleaguered and bereft nation; bring employment, financial stability, and peace to our nation. Thank you for bringing a long awaited end to the Republicanism that seeks to benefit only the rich and bleed the lower classes of their jobs, their homes, and their hopes. May the now Democratic majority work with our new President to reverse the warmongering, the collapse of our economy, and the terrifying national debt that the outgoing administration brought to our land. Aid our new government in ensuring the proper spending of the gigantic bailout package provided by those companies that receive the funds. Save the jobs and homes of those who yet live in fear of the loss of all they have. Protect the lives of our service men and women; bring cooperation to the people of Iraq; end the fighting in Your Holy Land; above all, dear God, provide for those who are most in need of shelter, food, and clothing. Not in our land alone, oh God, but throughout the World. As in every prayer, we lay it before the altar of Your Son Jesus, the Christ's sacrifice, and through His Holy Spirit may all glory and honor be Yours for You live and reign together as one. Amen.

ps, I like the part about "not our land alone, oh God, but throughout the world." :)

May God bless you and keep you strong in His service.
