I was lucky enough to film about 20 same sex weddings in the conservative community of Bakersfield. It was a fantastic and emotional day! I am proud to say that there were many of us ULC ministers who were there to officiate the weddings that the county clerk refused to perform. God bless ULC and the State of California!
I myself am about to wed on 08/08/08 in Arcata California and am seeking a ULC minister to perform the ceremony. If anyone reads this and would be in a position to perform a cool beach ceremony, please contact me!
Peace, Laura

What an amazing experience we had officiating our friends wedding in Guerneville California last month!
The ceremony was outside in front of their former Ice Cream Parlor on Main Street, it was simple, meaningful and shared by many in attendance. I was thrilled to say the least.
Our friends had gotten their marriage license the day before at the Sonoma County Clerks office. When my partner and I went back to register the marriage the next day, at the same county office, the atmospere was was joyful. We were met in the parking lot by folks from the UUC who were handing out roses. Everyone thought we were there to get married ourselves. I have never had such a wonderful time at a county office in my life! The people waiting in the hall were festive, the employees were all smiling and warm hearted. It was genuinely a celebration of love.
This was the first time I had used my ULC Monastery credentials and was so proud and grateful to be a part of this marriage ceremony. Looking out at the two grooms, Jim and Chuck, behind them so many friends and members of the community, I was overwhelmed!
Thank you all at ULC Monastery for enabling me to perform this marriage.
Now I am getting request from other couples, straight and gay to perform their marriages. What an unexpected and surprising blessing!
