You know what they say, blasphemy is a victimless crime.

Ok harryhogwart, i cant gelp but wonder...
do you live in Massechusetts? if not, do you plan to go there anytime?
and do you REALLY feel this much of a need to blaspheme agaisnt ANY god(s) in Massechusetts?
when was the last time anyone was actually convicted of this in Massechusetts, anyway?
This whole things seems to be fueled by anger, if not hatred. Why would you even want to disrespect others viewes, by doing something that is ultimatley without effect? would you like it if someone did the same to you and your views? doubt it.
It just seems to me, that the world would be so much better off, if people stopped trying to make everybody else do what they wanted, and just tried to work with each other in an effort to get along. yes, i'm talking about religious tolerance here, if not taking the christian dieties names in vain will make my neighbor happy, then ok. its not that big of a deal, really. As a non-christian, I agree that this law is a little over the line, and has little, if any, constitutional support, but who cares? if you're not a christian, jew, or islamic, then you probably shouldnt be making direct references to their dieties, unless its in a non-disrespectful manor.
for crying out loud- cant we all just get along???
Besides, there are SOOO many more important things out there that could use our attention. your efforts would likely benefit the world if directed toward something more pressing- how bout spending the time you'd invest in this matter into helping out in a soup kitchen somewhere?

That sounds like the best possible argument about why an "anti-blaspheming" law is ridiculous.

Contacted the Mass State Attorney General's Office via the email address -
mailto:Ago@state.ma.us- with the question as to whether or not the blasphemy law was still valid in the Commonwealth of Mass here is the response :
"
Thank you for contacting the office of Attorney General Martha Coakley. Your e-mail has been forwarded to me for response. It appears that this law, although outdated, still appears in the current edition of the Massachusetts General Laws. However, it is clearly not enforced and should a law enforcement officer attempt to enforce the law it would probably be repealed by the legislature. I hope this answers your question. Sincerely, Community Information and Education Division"

Number Seven,
I thought about that a bit after i hit the button- was hoping noone would catch it! lol
Iguess what i'm trying to say, is that yes, i agree that this law should not exist- no arguement there. But I'd also say that no one should have to be offended in such a manner as to feel a need to make such a law. Not one single person shouldnt feel the need to try to pass legislation that protects them from feeling like your beliefs are inferior or worthless, due to some idiot not being able to show a little respect by keeping their mouth shut, and not dragging others views/beliefs through the mud. Again, its simple respect, and tolerance.
Yes, the first ammendment give us the right to say things like that, but we should also be mature and considerate enough to refrain from using that right, if for no other reason, out of shear courtesy.
