Full Version: Please Pray for Me and My Family
Universal Life Church Monastery > Spirituality > ULC Prayer Requests
Rev. Li-An
Nearly three years ago I was in a bad car accident that left me with a horrible, disabling condition. A rare neurological condition that causes severe nerve pain and spasms in my neck and upper back. As a result of these spasms and nerve damage I also have problems with motor function. My fiancee, Rev. Bryan Anderson, has been a faithful member of the ULC for many years now. He has been wonderful about helping me keep my faith and even helped me get my ordination. He has stood by my side for every painful moment, every doctors appointment, and every heartbreaking trial that I have had to face. Unfortunetly, due to my condition, he has had to quit his job and stay home to help me, leaving us in an aweful financial bind. I have applied for social security, but a decision to grant me benefits has been held up in court for over a year because not much is known about my condition. We have made the heartbreaking decision to take the last of our money, leave our home and move to another state in search of doctor who can help me and a better life for our children. I am scared for my family because we have no more money and we are about to face our hardest trial yet. It is so difficult to keep the faith when you are watching your world fall apart. Please, pray for us. Pray that we may have the strength to face these difficult tasks and, please, pray for a positive resolution to these heartbreaking events.
Sincerely -Rev. Li-An Ventura

God gives troubles for your spiritual upliftment. In fact you are suffering because of your own previous sins that you have done. God is no way responsible for that. If you cry in front of God them God will post pone present trouble with an increased value to future and bring a fruit of a good deed, which you supposed to enjoy in the future time to the present with reduced value. Hence your future life cycle will be full of misery only.

If you are a real devotee of God, you will never ask God to remove the misery. Instead you should ENJOY MiSERY. Such people are VERY VERY DEAR TO GOD. God also enjoyed misery when He came as Jesus here, He never prayed to postpone the misery. Infact He suffered for others!!!

Now you are attracted to God because you like His power of solving problems!!!. Such devotion is FALSE!!. God have no interest in such people who approach Him with a business mentality. They are not His Poeple. His People are those people, who LOVE HIM WITHOUT ANY EXPECTATION, and serve Him without any selfish DESIRE. For such great devotees only Lord died, not for all.

So, quickly come out of all illusion, remember that Lord knows your suffering, Lord want you to learn the capacity to enjoy even the misery, you should put effort yourself to have touch mental strength to accept the misery and never pray Lord to remove, instead you should break all your worldly attachments (due to worldly attachments only you are suffering), and should try to form only one attachment with Lord. This is known as SALVATION. Instead if you are praying Lord to remove troubles means, advocating a doctor who has prescribed a medicine for a patient who is in critical situation, not to administer the medicine!! How foolish it is!!

So, please remember these facts and try to accept the misery and enjoy it, misery always take you to God, happiness and victory takes away from God, because you will become EGOISTIC. So this is the secret ENJOY WORRY & MISERY!!!

When you are praying do not PRAY FOR YOUR PERSONAL NEEDS! Instead you PRAY FOR LOVE TO BE FORMED ON LORD WITHOUT ANY SELFISHNESS. Your entire aim of life is to please Lord through service to Him without ANY SELFISHNESS. If you stick to this you will become HIS PEOPLE.

Dear friend,

I have no objection for praying, but if you keep on doing this for your personal benifit only then we have to think about it. Jesus asked the people to pray for 'HOLY SPIRIT'. To lower level devotee He told to pray you will be given. To higher level matured devotees He told

Luke—14:26 to 27

“If any one comes to Me and does not hate his father and mother, wife and children, brothers and sisters, yes, and his own life also, he cannot be my disciple’’.

Thus when Lord comes in human form, He preaches according to the level of people who approach Him. To lower level, who approached for personal needs, Lord preached in parables, so that only deserving devotees came latter on to explain for the inner meaning of those parables.
But to His disciples those who left everything for Him, to them He explained everything behind the parables and talked about the knoweldge of God and the scarifice required to grow in the spirituality.

My Dear Sister,

May God bless you and yours, and bring better fortune. I am myself awaiting surgery for disc and vertebrae degeneration which often causes pinched nerves and horrific pain. In addition, I fought the Shingles this summer and am suffering from neuralgia as a result. Let's exchange prayers for one another, shall we? Do not let your faith be affected because of your suffering; suffering in the world is an evil, and is therefore from the evil one. I beg the power of good to come upon you, provide you strength, and allow provision for your family; AMEN. Much love, Rev. Michael Meakin, ULC.
